About us

The Midezon-Togo Association

Midezon-Togo is a Franco-Togolese international solidarity association founded in Lomé in 2015. Non-political and non-profit, it works in health, education, environment, culture and solidarity tourism.

Identity & etymology

Midezon

in the Ewé language

“On the road to development”

The word comes from Ewé, the language spoken in Lomé, Sanguera and across southern Togo. It carries the idea of a shared movement in which everyone moves forward — volunteers, families, children — towards a common goal. This conviction has shaped all our work since 2015.

Our mission

To drive sustainable development in Togo by mobilising international volunteers for hands-on projects in education, health, environment and culture. Every action directly improves living conditions for vulnerable communities.

Our vision

A Togo where every child has access to education, every community to healthcare, and intercultural exchange drives progress. We dream of a world where solidarity knows no borders.

Our philosophy

"It is through exchange and solidarity that we can contribute to sustainable development." — We believe volunteering transforms both local communities and the volunteers themselves.

Our history in dates

From Adidogomé to Sanguera: eleven years growing alongside the children and families of southern Togo.

  • 2015

It all begins in Adidogomé, Lomé

On 15 February 2015, Midezon-Togo is born in the Adidogomé district of Lomé, around its founding president, Bossa Koffi Essome. From July, the first volunteers arrive, from France, then Switzerland and Germany. At Christmas, some thirty local children celebrate with the team.

  • 2016

    A home open to children

At the end of June, the association opens its community house in Lomé. From August, around thirty children come every weekday for after-school tutoring. In the autumn, the dry toilets built with the people of Davié-Tekpo are completed.

  • 2017

    Three projects in one summer

In Begbé, the foundations of a school building rise. In Davié-Tekpo, home care reaches around 300 patients. In Lomé, the children of the community house stage their own show.

  • 2022

    Moving to Sanguera

To be even closer to vulnerable communities, Midezon-Togo leaves Adidogomé and settles in Sanguera, on the outskirts of Lomé. A deliberate choice: to work right beside the people who need it, and to strengthen its support across the whole area. The same year, the project of a Midezon house in Begbé is born.

Our key activities

Here are the concrete missions we carry out daily in Sanguera and partner communities.
