How can you help a young person in Lomé dare to speak up — and master a computer — in just two weeks?
Picture the last day of camp: a teenager who never raised her hand stands up, takes a breath and presents her project to the group. Behind her, on the screen, the slideshow she built with you.

Why this camp exists
Because a voice that dares changes a path
Speaking with confidence and using a computer open doors: an oral exam, a first job, a project. Many young people have never had a place to practise.
Through play, practice and encouragement
Short, playful workshops, role play, small presentations to the group, computer sessions in pairs: everyone progresses at their own pace, without judgement.
A two-week volunteer camp in Lomé
Public speaking, computer basics, educational activities and creative games, alongside Midezon’s Togolese team.
What these two weeks will reveal to you
- Why a Lomé teenager’s stage fright feels so much like yours — and what helping them tame it teaches you about your own speaking.
- How a simple role-play can turn “I can’t speak in public” into a first presentation to the group within days.
- What it feels like to guide a hand on a mouse for the very first time — a moment you don’t forget.
- How to find the right words when you lead activities in a shared language that is not the one spoken at home: what the Togolese team will teach you on day one.
- Why leading this camp is real-life training for your own presentations, vivas and interviews.
- The moment the whole group applauds the one who barely dared to speak: the kind of memory you keep for a long time.
A day at camp
Picture it: here is the rhythm of a day, from the first voice game to the last burst of laughter.
8 am
Welcome and warm-up
Voice, posture and confidence games to start the day with energy.
9 am
Public speaking workshop
Telling, arguing, improvising: short exercises, then a talk in front of the group, cheered on by everyone.
11 am
Computer workshop
Keyboard, mouse, word processing, web search, a first slideshow: in pairs, at each person’s pace.
1 pm
Lunch and break
Togolese food, conversations, rest during the hottest hours.
3 pm
Educational activities
Educational, creative and sports games with the neighbourhood children.
6 pm
Debrief and group life
What worked, what to change tomorrow — then dinner, music and laughter.
Indicative programme, adjusted with the Togolese team to the group of young people.
