Two weeks to plant what will still be growing in twenty years
June 2015, Davié-Tékpo. Ayité, a landscape gardener and member of the association, arrives with tree seedlings. The village chief, his secretary and the villagers welcome the team for Tree Day. That day, an idea takes root: reforesting with the village. What if you helped grow what comes next?

Tree Day in Davié-Tékpo: the start of a partnership
Why this work camp exists
Because the land feeds people, as long as it is cared for
In Togo, nearly four jobs in ten are in agriculture. Living soils, trees and shared know-how mean food today and a preserved tomorrow.
Through simple practices, learned and shared together
Planting, mulching, composting, observing: agroecology and permaculture are learned with your hands in the soil, alongside villagers and pupils.
A two-week solidarity work camp
Agroecology and permaculture, community reforestation, school gardens and environmental awareness, with Midezon’s Togolese team.
What these two weeks will reveal to you
- Why a tree planted with the villagers is far more likely to grow: the secret of reforestation that lasts.
- The permaculture practices you will take home: to your garden, your balcony, or the way you consume.
- What the pupils will teach you about the plants of their region: here, learning goes both ways.
- The taste of pâte shared at lunchtime, Togo’s national dish, after a morning with your hands in the soil.
- How two weeks on site become a line that counts on your CV — agronomy, environment, sustainable development. A mission attestation is issued on request.
- The moment you understand why, in Togo, “Akpé” — thank you — is said with such warmth.

Davié-Tékpo, 1 June 2015: Tree Day
The association’s Togolese members travel to the village to plant trees. The seedlings? A gift from Ayité, a landscape gardener and active member. That day a partnership with the village begins — the association was already planning a reforestation programme there.

The village chief, his secretary and all the people of Davié welcomed us warmly for this Tree Day.

How much does an agroecology volunteer camp in Togo cost?
Participation is €160 for two weeks (accommodation, meals, supervision, airport pick-up), plus a one-off €50 registration fee. Flights, visa, vaccinations and insurance are at your own expense.

Because your stay has real costs on site: accommodation, three meals a day, supervision, airport pick-up. Your participation covers them, and everything is detailed on this page.
Is this like WWOOFing?
Not quite: WWOOFing means working on a farm in exchange for board and lodging. Here you join a solidarity camp run by an association, as a team, with a programme of site work and discovery.
Can families take part?
Yes: the camp is open from 18, and minors can take part with a parent or guardian. Just mention it when you register.
When do the camps take place?
